The beginning of Angie’s life in highschool is marked by a strange phenomenon: The pond in the backwoods begins to take shape.
It had never been much of anything; maybe a large expanse of rotting mud. But suddenly the water level begins to rise. There is abrupt sound, all around the city toads begin to croak, and no where is safe from the onslaught of flies… Excluding Angie Kurt’s home.
Friends stop talking to her, her parents slowly become more and more distant, and more creatures, more sounds appear from the backwoods.
It’s up to lonely Angie to enter the woods to discover why The Pond has taken up a vendetta against the town. More importantly: Why exclude her?
